Friday: Open Topic

After finishing my last post yesterday evening, I tuned my TV to the local news station and gazed in horror at what I saw. I don't know if you have seen this video or not, but it left me shocked and appalled. This video shows a 78 year old man crossing the street and getting hit by a car that was obviously not taking others into consideration.

To me though, the worst part is that no one stopped to help him! People drove around him and people glanced his way and kept on walking! At 0:45 you see a man talking to a driver of a car opposite the victim, but it's not until a police cruiser pulls up at the very end (1 minute and 20 seconds AFTER the incident) that the man receives any help. People stood and watched him for over a minute. To be honest, this is one of those times that I'm embarrassed to be an American. Actually, I take that back. It's probably not just Americans that have this problem, but in today's society nobody seems to care about others anymore. Our self-centered "me" attitude is so prevalent today that our attitude towards the well being of others has turned to apathy. But if it makes the driver of the car (or anyone that thinks "no big deal") feel any better, the victim is now parlyzed from the waist down. This isn't the America I grew up with. My rant aside, this answered my question that was weighing on my mind as soon as I logged off yesterday evening. "What will I write about tomorrow?" The answer was given to me. So I decided that Fridays will be Open Topic. I feel like it's the end of the week so we all deserve a break from the weekly grind of watching more of Obama's skeleton's come out of his closet and not watching McCain (Is it just me or does Obama get the majority of the air time?). So if there is a certain event or something stupid that Obama has said (who knew the ocean was rising?) that you would like to discuss, feel free to post it below. I'll read each and I'm going to make you this promise now: I'll respond to every one. Because you know how many there will be? One. Haha Okay I'm done for this week. A preview for what's to come next week:

And let me tell you now: I have a VERY strong opinion on this issue. You won't want to miss it. Thanks for reading! If you happen to enjoy the blog please tell anyone you know that might enjoy it and leave a comment below. I'd like to start some political discussions with my readers and if I can arouse enough interest open up my own website to do so.

*UPDATE*

It is now being reported that the two cars in the video were (if you somehow couldn't tell) racing. Oh, and the man in the video will also never be able to breath on his own again. Personally, I think BOTH drivers should be sentenced to life. Sounds cruel? Not really. I'm an advocate of capital punishment. Scru them.

'08: The Quest for Power (or lack thereof)...

To be frank... this presidential race scares the living fire out of me. I don't think the American people are left with much of a choice for who they wish to be the leader of the free world. On one side you have McCain, who, quite frankly, is a sissy Republican (actually from here on out he'll be known as the "demublican") and on the other, Barack (our supposed savior of America, but don't call him by his middle name) Obama. Who the heck are we supposed to choose? McCain is pushing for a cap-and-trade bill that will only make prices of EVERYTHING go up, while Obama is under the IDIOTIC impression that America should DISARM! Why on God's green earth would we do such a stupid thing?

Check this out:

We are one of the greatest nations in the world, but let's face it. People HATE America. Iran views us as "The Great Satan". Uhhh.... Is it time for satan to put down his three pronged fork? I don't think so. If Obama thinks other countries will follow our example, he is (say this with me now) D-R-E-A-M-I-N-G! The only thing that he will inspire other countries to do is attack us. The moment we let our guard down is the moment we lose our status in the world. Obama turns the other cheek and risks the lives of millions of Americans. Now I'm not saying he's all bad. After all he dresses very nice. Men's Warehouse must be doing very well. And I'll give you this: He is a very talented speaker. He is. But words are not actions. If I recall correctly: Actions speak louder than words. Now before the Obama supporters go off on McCain, allow me: I am so tired of politicians that stand for nothing. McCain is one of the most liberal Republicans I've ever seen. He's against off-shore drilling, and that stupid cap-and-trade bill that will only drive prices of everything higher. I would vote for a candidate that spoke on what he believed in. Give me something that you're passionate about. Anything! Besides the quest for power. Now, I've talked to a few people about the current election and here are some of their thoughts:

1. They will not vote for either McCain or Obama.

Understandable. In my opinion they both are horrible choices.

2. Obama is the way, the truth, and the light.

They're right. He's the way to destruction, the person that could truly bring America to it's knees, and will show America just how bright the light of an atomic bomb is.

3. McCain sucks.

Again, agreed. But when compared to the other choices... ... ... He's my eventual choice.

Yes, you heard it here. I will be voting for McCain. But only to chose the lesser of two evils. McCain will at least kill our country slower than Obama. I actually think that McCain has potential. He could be a good leader, but he's not conservative enough for me. Take a stand on something man! Seriously. Another thing I've heard recently is that many people will be voting for an Independent. Yay. Thank you for voting for Obama. Because that's what a vote for anyone other than McCain is. Here it is: The race is between (get this) McCain and Obama. An Independent or Libertarian will NOT win. They just won't (let's be honest). I am choosing McCain (it's hard let me tell you) because Obama scares me that much more. This guy keeps turning up "friends" that are very shady characters. Let's see... what is that now... A crazy pastor and Tony Rezko (a money launderer if you're new to the scene)... All within two weeks? This guy needs to choose better friends. Either that or he is lying about his affiliation with them. In closing, let me just say that Obama is, and don't kid yourself here, the path to destruction. I will not try and manipulate your vote, but I will present you with the facts.

Welcome to Scru (Political Correctness)!

Hello and welcome to Scru! Scru is a blog in which my team and I will be posting different comments and viewpoints about current national and international events. The title (as some of you may have wondered) refers to our outlook on a certain issue that seems to be getting rapidly worse in the United States today: Political correctness. As a matter of fact that is the issue that we will be covering today!

"Scru Political Correctness"

This is a pivotal moment in our country's history. Times are changing and so are people. And here in lies the interesting predicament: when should political correctness stop? To me, it should stop the moment the progress or safety of our nation is at stake. Now, you may be sitting there wondering how political correctness "endangers our nation". Well you're in luck! I'll let you know what I think. Over the past decade or so, the U.S. has seen an overwhelming influx of immigrants not from accross the Rio Grand, but from accross the ocean. That's right, the number of immigrants from Islamic nations has increased. Hang with me; getting to the point... Immigration and Islam is not what I'm arguing against (I think legal immigration is a great thing!). It's the communities that they build up that pose the biggest problem. Take France for example: Southern France has had a growing problem among these communities. The occupants us political correctness as an excuse, claiming discrimination! They use this so much so that the government starts to leave these communities alone for fear of lawsuites and hate crimes. These communities are even getting their own schools! Hmm... Is it just me... or aren't these "abused and discriminated peoples" discriminating against the country in which they reside? Here in America, we see similar claims from our politicians. Obama pulled the "race card" long before I thought he would. If he's playing off of the publicity of possibly being the first (let me say) "African American" (don't want to offend anyone!) president, then shouldn't he accept that people will talk about him being the first black president? How can he campaign for equality when he puts himself on a pedestal creating these racial lines. Uhh... We (as a people) draw these political and racial lines ourselves. So maybe if we stopped doing so it would be less of a Race Race and more of a Political Race (I'll save my rant on the presidential candidates for tomorrow). In closing, I believe that we have become a society so focused on not hurting anyones feelings that we've begun to hurt ourselves. Our government is unable (if not incapable) of doing the right thing, because the MAJORITY might agree with it (ie. Prayer in schools). Heaven forbid someones feelings get hurt. What do you think? Feel free to leave your intelligent comments below.
